The hike out to Achill Head proved to be a brutal one, carrying all my camping and camera gear. By the time I arrived, the evening air was hazy, not ideal for photography, though Achill Head seems to look spectacular in any conditions. Midgies swarmed me as I tried to set up camp and shoot, making it all the more challenging. It’s fair to say I went to sleep that night feeling a bit deflated.
I woke the following morning after a broken sleep and unzipped my tent, only to find myself surrounded by a blanket of fog. It was so unexpected, I thought I was dreaming. A cloud inversion had rolled in overnight, leaving only the mountains of Croaghaun and Slievemore visible through the clouds. I took some photos before setting off to climb Croaghaun.
