I spent the summer of 2025 road tripping down Ireland’s wild and rugged West Coast

I first visited Donegal several years ago, shortly after I had purchased my first camera. Its coast is wild, with quiet islands dotted amongst scenic beaches and dramatic cliffs. It felt like a fitting place to start this road trip.
Exploring the cliffs of Loop Head led to a chance encounter with a large colony of guillemots and Razorbills.

Camping on the Great Blasket Island, it felt like I had the entire island to myself, with the exception of the island’s vast wildlife.

West Cork has several spectacular peninsulas. Some of Ireland’s most remarkable flora and fauna also thrive here in the mild climate, shaped by the Gulf Stream.
